Which size fits your horse?

Which size fits your horse?

Every bonnet is made to order in three sizes — Pony, Cob and Full. Height is a decent guide, but heads don't always match bodies, so the browband measurement is the one to trust. Take a piece of baling twine from one ear to the other across the forehead and compare it to the chart. Crochet has natural give, so if you're between two sizes either will usually sit fine. Still not sure? Message me your measurement and I'll tell you which to order.

    FAQ

Pony suits horses under about 14.2hh, Cob fits 14.2 to 16hh and most chunky-headed natives, and Full fits 16hh and up. If your horse sits between two sizes, measure the browband from ear to ear across the forehead — Pony is around 35cm, Cob 39cm and Full 42cm. Crochet has natural give, so there's a bit of room either way. Still unsure? Message me and I'll help you work it out.

Yes, every one. I crochet each bonnet myself, one at a time, at my kitchen table. Nothing is machine-made and nothing is pre-stocked — your bonnet gets started once you order it.

Soft cotton yarn, chosen because it's breathable, gentle against the ears and holds its shape. The antlers, pom-poms and trims are crocheted or stitched on by hand, not glued.

Yes. It sits like any ear bonnet, under the bridle with the browband threaded through, and the ear tubes muffle sound the same way a normal fly veil does. It's made for wearing, not just for photos.

Hand wash in cool water with a little wool detergent, squeeze rather than wring, and lay it flat to dry. Don't tumble dry it and don't put it in the machine — cotton crochet will stretch out of shape.
